If you want to maintain youthful, firm skin, there are a few things you should take into consideration. These considerations include your skin care routine, your habits and your sun care.  Firm skin is possible, even as you age, if you take good care of it.

You should consider your skin care routine. You cannot expect to maintain firm skin if you regularly go to bed with your makeup still on, use damaging chemical products or neglect moisturizing your face and neck. Chemical products can be drying or irritating to your skin, while natural and organic products will keep your complexion hydrated, and beginning with a clean slate every morning can help prevent skin from looking old. However, the most important step in your routine is proper moisturizing. Use a moisturizer both morning and night to keep skin looking youthful. The moisturizer should go on every time you wash your face, to add hydration back and provide the appearance of firm skin under your makeup.

Next, you should consider your habits. A healthy diet and regular exercise can promote firm skin by giving your body the nutrients and antioxidants it needs, and getting some cardio helps pump blood to your organs, of which your skin is the largest. You also should avoid cigarettes and second-hand smoke, as the chemicals in the smoke can cause skin to age dramatically, even if you’re not the one smoking. Another bad habit is to continually deal with stress. If you’re often stressed out, it can lead to fine lines. Often there are healthy ways to deal with stress, such as meditation or light exercise, which will help you maintain firm skin themselves.

Finally, don’t forget to protect your skin from the sun. One of the fastest ways to look old is to get too much sun or UV exposure. Protect your skin with sunscreen of at least SPF 30, as well as a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and when possible, stay in the shade.
